Know God and Make Him Known
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.” – Matthew 28:19-20
OUR MISSION
Make: In accordance with the Great Commission found in Matt. 28:19-20 we are commanded to make disciples by (1) going, (2) baptizing, and (3) teaching.
- Go: We are commanded to go equipped with he Gospel and empowered by the Spirit by reaching the lost personally, locally, and globally (Acts 1:8).
- Baptizing: We are commanded to baptize those who respond in faith and become new creations in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17).
- Teaching: We are commanded to teach God’s word and further equip the saints for the work of ministry (Eph. 4:11; 2 Tim. 3:16).
Disciples: A disciple is a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ (Matt. 16:24; Mark 8:34-37). Our objective at Twin Rivers Church is to make disciples who in their devotion to Him (1) worship God, (2) commit to God’s family, (3) serve others, (4) steward God’s resources, and (5) witness to the world.
Know God: As disciples our key objective is not only to know about God but to know Him personally through Jesus Christ our Savior and our Lord. We grow in our knowledge of God by growing in our love for God, His Word, and His people (Matt. 22:37; Ps. 119:47-48; John 13:35).
And Make Him Known: As disciples our key objective is not only to know God through Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord, but to declare Him to those who do not know Him in Springfield, Lane County, and to the ends of the earth (Acts. 1:8; Rom. 1:16-17).
OUR VISION
At Twin Rivers Church we aim to glorify God as a community of believers transformed by the Gospel by exulting God, edifying the believer, and evangelizing the lost.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (2 Cor. 5:17)
OUR VALUES
“And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.” (Acts 2:42).
SCRIPTURE (Biblical Instruction)
We value the clear and accurate communication of God’s Word in a way that ministers grace and urges obedience. We believe it is the ultimate source of authority for everything we believe, teach, and practice. (2 Tim. 3:16–17; Joshua 1:8; 2 Peter 1:21; Heb. 4:12).
PRAYER (Passionate Prayer)
We value prayer in all that we do as the power source behind everything we do. We believe God has chosen to accomplish His purposes through the prayers of His people. Prayer is the means by which we express our delight and dependence on God. (John 14:12-14; Matt. 7:7–11; James 5:13–18)
WORSHIP (United in Worship)
We value corporate worship as a means of expressing love, honor, and praise to God for who He is, what He has done, what He is doing, and what He promises to do. God, not man, is the focus and center of our worship. Singing, praying, partaking of communion, and communicating the Word of God, are all vital parts of our worship (Mark 12:30; John 4:23-24; 1 Cor. 11:17-34; Matt. 26:26-30).
FELLOWSHIP (Caring Community)
We value fellowship where intentional loving relationships can form by cultivating accountability, authenticity, and spiritual growth among God’s people. We believe life change happens best in community (1 These. 5:11; Heb. 10:24-25; Gal. 6:2; Phil. 2:1-4; Eccl. 4:9-12; Matt. 18:15-20).
EVANGELISM (Strategic Outreach)
We value introducing others to Jesus by sharing the Good News of Jesus with those who don’t know Him locally and around the world. We are committed to seeking effective ways to share Jesus with others personally, in our community, and around the world (Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 1:8; 2 Corinthians 5:18-21)
STEWARDSHIP (Service and Generosity)
We value serving God by serving others. We are committed to serving and giving of our resources knowing that we are just stewards appointed by God as we use our time, talent, and treasures for His purposes inside and outside of the church walls. We believe in a team model for ministry and an organization that equips and empowers every family, member, and leader to serve and give of themselves as ministers unto God (Eph. 4:11–16; 1 Cor. 12; Rom. 12; ; 1 Pet. 4; 2 Cor. 8; 9:6-11).
