Men’s Ministry
First Saturday Breakfast
On the first Saturday of each month, the men of Twin Rivers gather together for breakfast and fellowship. Most months, we cook and eat at the church. On some occasions, we will meet at a local establishment. Part of our time includes a brief testimony or lesson from one of our men or from a guest speaker. This is another opportunity for us to strengthen our friendships with other men in our church family.
If you are looking for a place to help out or a ministry to get involved in, this could be the place for you. The breakfast team could use help preparing and setting up for the Saturday Breakfasts. If you would be interested in helping out, let us know.
Authentic Fellowship
Authentic Fellowship is a men’s group that meets every Tuesday night (except the third Tuesday of the month that we have Men’s Prayer) from 7:00 – 8:30 PM at Twin Rivers.
The primary purpose of Authentic Fellowship is to provide a small group setting where men can be completely honest about their relationship with the Lord. Men come to A.F. to be held accountable to other Christian men for the disciplines they should be practicing and for the sin they should be avoiding. Confidentiality and consistent attendance are the key elements to building that atmosphere of trust.
Spring Retreat
Each Spring, the men of Twin Rivers get away for a retreat – a weekend given to closely examine our Christian walk, to be still and listen to the voice of God, and to develop our friendships with our Christian brothers. The retreat usually runs from Friday night to Sunday noon and occurs in May.
S.W.A.T.
(Servants With A Task)
S.W.A.T. is a great opportunity for every man at Twin Rivers to become involved in something that is meaningful in a very concrete way. The main function of S.W.A.T. is to have men provide service to thosse in our church body who are in need. For example, a widow who needs to have yard debris cleaned up in her yard could be served by a group of men from S.W.A.T.
Not only do we desire to serve our widows, widowers, elderly and single mothers, but we would also like to serve those in our community who do not currently attend Twin Rivers. As our people refer their unsaved neighbors to S.W.A.T., this ministry can become a valid outreach ministry to our community. No special skills are needed to help out.
Third Tuesday Prayer
One of the most important disciplines in the process of becoming more devoted to Jesus Christ is prayer. Individual prayer is most important but we also put a priority on corporate prayer. Therefore, we have set aside the third Tuesday of each month for the men of Twin Rivers to come together to pray.
Feel free to bring your son(s) to this prayer time. Also, feel free to come even if you have never prayed in public before. There is nothing quite like the power of prayer when a group of men come together for that purpose.
Prayer Partnerships
Perhaps you would like to get together with another man for a regular time of one-on-one prayer. There is no better way to get accountability in your life than by establishing a prayer partnership. We would be happy to find another man to join with you if you are interested.
Special Events
We are not a country club but we do enjoy getting together as men and having fun. The discipline of friendship is one that often gets way from us in the business of being a husband, father, and worker. Therefore, one of the objectives of our events is to simply give men the opportunity to develop friendships from within our church body.
We also look for creative ways to bring our friends into a non-threatening Christian environment. These are an example of some past events:
- Automobile/Motorcycle show
- Ems Game
- Golf Tournament
- Annual Wild Game Feast
- Fishing trips
If you have an idea for an activity or need more information on an upcoming activity, we have a Men’s Mail box in the lobby for suggestions and a Men’s Ministry Event board for information.
